The CTF Experience
Cabrini Teaching Fellows commit to two years teaching full time in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver, bolstered with holistic formation and intentional Catholic community.
Full-Time Teaching
A regular salary, right away.
Fellows are immediately placed in a full-time position in one of the Cabrini Partner Schools in Denver or the Denver Metro Area. Position levels vary from kindergarten to high school, and fellows undergo a matching process according to their gifts, passions, and areas of expertise.
All partner schools are Catholic schools under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Denver, therefore Cabrini Teaching Fellows embrace the mission of the archbishop as delegates in his schools. They strive to love students, forming them to be lifelong learners in this life and saints in the next.
The Mission Statement of the Office of Catholic Schools is as follows:
Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Denver unite the mission of the Church and the family, creating a "sanctuary of education" — a sacred place of transformative encounter with Jesus Christ where students grow in wisdom and virtue and discover God's great calling for their lives.
Spiritual Growth
The source and summit.
CTF community is built around a mutual love of God, mission, and rhythm of prayer. Besides spiritual formation, fellows also pray together regularly and make a four-day silent retreat each semester.
While in CTF, fellows are supported in their discernment of their vocation in every sense of the word. CTF’s primary function is to support new teachers in the discernment of education as an occupational vocation, but they are also encouraged to discern their lifelong Vocation. Fellows have participated in the program from various states of life: single, engaged, married, and even as parents.
Holistic Formation
For a fully-formed teacher.
Fellows embrace two years of intense, holistic formation. They commit to participating fully and allowing themselves to be transformed by the information and experiences they receive. Four pillars of formation work together to engender holistic growth in the fellows. These pillars are spiritual, intellectual, human, and pedagogical.
Exact formation schedules are subject to change, but fellows usually meet one evening a week either for class or a social event, as well as one longer weekend formation event each month. By CTF Experience Life in the Fellowship the end of the two years, fellows will have earned a teaching certificate which allows them to teach in any school in the Archdiocese of Denver, as well as in many dioceses nationwide.
Intentional Community
Mutual support, right at home.
Cabrini Teaching Fellows receive subsidized housing for at least the first year of the program. This is intended to ease the transition to a new career and a new city, especially for those who move to Denver to participate. More importantly, this arrangement directly supports the creation of an intentional, prayerful community of teachers experiencing similar delights and challenges. Community living requires fellows to grow in virtue and develop strong conflict management skills. CTF empowers community members to advocate for their needs while contributing to the fellowship through structure, coaching, and mediation.
In the second year, fellows are responsible for finding their own housing, although they are encouraged to live together. CTF can assist by recommending locations, rentals, and offering guidance when needed. Fellows in any stage of the program are expected to actively participate in community-building events and contribute to the general sense of belonging.
